Lotto 6/49 Lottery NumbersLotto 6/49 is a Canada nationwide lottery game, as is new Lotto Max, which replaced Lotto Super 7 back in September 2009. Six winning numbers are drawn Wednesdays & Saturdays. Lotto 6/49, was introduced in June of 1982. & was the first Canadian lottery game that allowed players to choose their own numbers. Six numbers are picked from a set of 49 numbers total each draw. If a winning Lotto 6/49 ticket matches all six numbers picked, the jackpot prize of at least $4 Million is won. A seventh (7th) bonus number is also drawn, and if a player's ticket matches five numbers & the bonus number, the player wins a secondary prize of between $100,000 & $500,000. Should more than one player win the top or second prize, it is split amongst the winning Lotto 6/49 players. Lesser prizes are also awarded if a player matches at least three numbers, or two numbers plus the bonus number. If the top prize is not won, the Lotto 6/49 jackpot total prize increases for the next weekly Lotto 6/49 draw. As of June 2004, Lotto 6/49 tickets are $2 per line to play. It had previously been $1.00, but was raised in order to pay larger jackpots to winners. The minimum jackpot amount was also raised from $2 Million to $4 Million. As many as ten lines can be purchased on an individual Lotto 6/49 ticket. The maximum number of lines varies from province to province. In the Western Canada Lottery Corporation (WCLC), Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, the Northwest Territories, the Yukon & Nunavut, the maximum number of lines allowed for one Lotto 6/49 ticket is six lines. Much like Proline picks, Lotto 6/49 is also a lottery and regulated by the OLGC in Ontario.
